Gear

Packing list

We have compiled a list with gear we took with us on our last journeys and that we will take the coming journeys. In response to our experiences this list will be adapted to, in our opinion, the ultimate packing list to go on motorcycle adventure.

The list is divided into several categories: clothes, personal care, camping, kitchen, gadgets, tools and other. At the bottom of this page you can read how we pack everything on our motorbikes.

Clothes

How important are clothes? For someone who does not love shopping, and certainly not while traveling, bringing the right clothes is important. The advantage however is that, if you have forgotten something, there is always a solution on the road for sale.

Personal Care

To take along the right personal care products will be different for everyone. And as well as with the clothes, the majority of them will be on sale on the road in any form. The soap may not smell as good as home, but it will work! However there are also personal items that are not anywhere for sale, such as the contraceptive pill or tampons. For these products it is important that you calculate in advance how much you think you will need.

Camping

Weight is generally not a problem on the motorbike. We do not care about a kilo more or less. The pack size on the other hand, can make a difference and is important to us. When picking out our camping gear, we have found the combination between packing size and comfort.

Koffer 1 – Tent, hamer, grondzeil, waslijn+knijpers, doppenset, bandenlichters en diverse boutjes en moertjes

Quechua Quickhiker tent 3 persons

Due to its pack size (40 x 18 x 18 cm), an ideal tent to carry in one of the motorcycle panniers. The inner tent is attached to the outer tent and therefore setting up the tent is done within a minute. With our length 1,80 / 1,85m, this tent with its 2,15m is just long enough. We also have place to store some bags in the tent.

The disadvantage of this tent is that there is very little space in the two side departments. Except for our motorcycle boots and a bottle of water, here fits basically nothing.

Gamma Sailcloth (4 x 6 m)

We cut this sail to suit under the tent and in our opinion it is a must to keep the place clean and dry during heavy rains. The other piece (3 x 4 m) we use as an extra sail we can span between the motorbikes in case of rain. This invention was very handy during our holiday in Scandinavia.

Sleeping mat Wildebeast Nyanga 5 cm thick (2x)

We chose this one because of its sleeping mat pack size, which is equal to the pack size of the sleeping bags. The thickness is a middle, not very fancy, but just thick enough to fall asleep nice.

Sleeping bag Wildebeast Reedbuck 3 seasons RIGHT and LEFT

Nice to zip together and stay warm on a cold night.

Ikea Brödgran fitted sheet for featherbed + 2x sleeping bag sheet

When we sleep in the sleeping bags, we use the sleeping bag sheets. When we sleep under the sleeping bags, we use the fitted sheet on the sleeping mats. In addition, the sleeping bag sheets are also great during a warm night when the sleeping bags are actually too hot.

Inflatable pillow air basic (2x)

Extremely practical, because small when folded and quickly inflated. But the pillow is not very large, so maybe it will be replaced soon.

Clothesline + 20 clothespins

Before our first camping holiday we had not thought before that we would use these gadgets almost every day. Even under our sailcloth in case of rain.
